First Malayalam and Kannada movie releases in the OTT platform during lockdown: Malayalam and Kannada film producers enters the OTT release this July after a long-lasting wait for the theatres to open out of curfew. Sufiyum Sujatayum (Malayalam) releasing on July 3, 2020, in Amazon Prime Video and Law (Kanada) releasing on July 17, 2020, in Amazon Prime Video as a world premiere.
Indian Cinema industry is one big blasted field due to the pandemic CoronaVirus, which made shutting down of theatres everywhere to maintain social distancing.
Indian Producers find Over the Top platforms like AmazonPrime, Netflix and Zee5 as a solution to lessen the monetary issues and theatrical release delay of their movies. In the path, Bollywood and Kollywood producers faced several issues from the theatrical association in releasing their movies in OTT platforms.
Despite all, Jyothika's Ponmagal Vandhal, Amitabh Bachchan's Gulabo Sitabo and Keerthy Suresh's Penguin released one after the other fulfilling the longer need of movie freaks to watch a new drama with the trending stars of this period but none of the movie satisfied audience expectations in reality.
Following the biggies, Malayalam and Kannada cinema has taken the shift this July for weekends. Directed by Naranipuzha Shanavas under the Friday Film House banner by producer Vijay Babu, Sufiyum Sujatayum premieres exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on July 3 to prove whether love between Jayasurya and Aditi Rao Hydari prevails over everything else around or not.
Since Kollywood films had already proved their mark in the Indian cinema with the quality of stories and simplest screenplay, this new movie, after months by Mollywood, is undoubtedly a visual treat to the film addicts.
Meanwhile, after Jyothika's Ponmagal Vandhal, it's Ragini Chandran's turn on Amazon Prime to unveil the facts via court drama titled 'Law' under the direction of Raghu Samarth. The witness first hearing will appear on the OTT court on July 17, 2020, under the banner of PRK productions.
When this curfew situation continues in the country out of CoVid, we can expect more new movies on the streaming platforms from the top directors and producers too. However, Soorarai Potru, a biopic by Sudha Kongara, starring Surya Sivakumar as G.R.Gopinath rumors to be released in Amazon due to the fiery arguments between 2D Entertainment and Theatre Association of Tamil Nadu.
But the official confirmation of the statement is not yet clarified by the movie's team. Will Amazon pay for such a huge budget movie to release in OTT will be another big question.
