PV Sindhu advanced to the women’s singles badminton pre-quarterfinals on July 31 at the Paris Olympics 2024. In her second and final Group M match, Sindhu defeated Estonian player Kristin Kuuba with scores of 21-5 and 21-10 to secure a spot in the Round of 16.

Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu started the match with a commanding lead, jumping ahead by 8 points before Kuuba managed to score in the first game. Despite Kuuba’s attempts to build momentum, she struggled to match Sindhu’s intensity.

After losing the first game 21-5, Kuuba initially led in the second game but was unable to maintain her advantage. Sindhu quickly regained ground and nailed her second successive win of the tournament.

Kuuba ranked 73rd in the world compared to Sindhu’s 13th, was outmatched in the first game, which Sindhu won in just 14 minutes.

Sindhu will enter her next match with high confidence, having delivered a commanding straight-sets victory over Maldives' Fathimath Abdul Razzaq in the women’s singles group stage on Sunday.
