August 2 OTT releases offered audiences a range of movies spanning different genres, from crime to animation. This week, movie lovers are eager to re-watch "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes". Additionally, the suspense thriller web series "Brinda" and "Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks" have captured the attention of audiences.

Plot:

The film tackles important social issues in the country. It begins with Siddharth, who is strongly against corruption and wants his childhood hero, Senapathy, to return and fight against it. 

Senapathy agrees and teams up with Siddharth to battle societal problems. The story focuses on whether Senapathy’s return will lead to real change. 

Indian 2, despite its high expectations, has received mixed reviews from the audience as the plot for the movie is outdated.

Plot:

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the fourth film in the Planet of the Apes franchise, following the commercially successful and globally loved original series. 

This latest installment continues the legacy of Caesar's civilization and is anticipated to be a strong addition to the series. The movie taps into nostalgia, drawing viewers back to the themes of the original films. 

The story introduces new ape leaders and characters while depicting humans as having regressed to a more primitive state. The plot centers on a conflict where one group of apes attempts to kidnap a human, while another group strives to rescue her.

Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, a live-action and animated spin-off of the Nickelodeon series has just been released on Netflix. The film will be available for streaming starting August 2.

Plot:

The story centers on Sandy Cheeks, who, alongside SpongeBob SquarePants, embarks on a daring adventure to Texas when Bikini Bottom is unexpectedly lifted out of the ocean. They must block a terrible plot to save their underwater town.

Carolyn Lawrence and Tom Kenny reprise their roles as Sandy and SpongeBob, respectively. They are joined by a mix of familiar faces and new additions, including Wanda Sykes, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Mr. Lawrence, Rodger Bumpass, Johnny Knoxville, Craig Robinson, Grey DeLisle, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, and Matty Cardarople.

The original animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants, was created by American animator and marine science educator Stephen Hillenburg.

Rail - Aha Tamil

Rail, which premiered in theaters on June 21, is now set to stream on an OTT platform starting August 2.

Plot:

Rail explores the lives of two contrasting characters, Muthiah and Sunil, set in a Tamil Nadu town. Muthiah, an irresponsible and alcoholic electrician, is depicted alongside his wife, Chellamma. In contrast, Sunil, a responsible and hardworking North Indian who lives across the street from Muthiah and Chellamma, leads a better life.

Muthiah's jealousy of Sunil’s seemingly superior life fuels his resentment, blaming Sunil for his own misfortunes. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when Sunil meets a tragic end, setting the stage for the rest of the story as it unfolds.

Brinda - Sony Liv

Brinda is an upcoming suspense thriller web series set to premiere on Sony Liv on August 2.

Plot:

In a male-dominated police department, Brinda, the sole female sub-inspector, is faced with gender-based criticism from her co-workers. The series trailer reveals a scene involving masked figures preparing a disturbing ritual sacrifice of a young girl. As a series of murders unfold, Brinda and her team are forced into a complex and brutal murder mystery.

The narrative delves into the disturbing theme of people being killed in the name of a so-called greater good. The trailer builds suspense with a dramatic climax where an injured Brinda is seen firing a gunshot.
