August 15, 2024 Theatre Release Tamil Movies List

August 2024, this week's new movies will be released in theatres on August 15, on the occasion of Independence Day. This week movie releases include the most anticipated movies Thangalaan, Demonte Colony 2, and Raghu Thatha.

As the movie releases on the 78th Indian Independence Day, multiple movies released on the special day fall under the themes of bravery, and freedom.

Thangalaan 

Thangalaan is one of the most anticipated movies in the film industry and is set to release in theatres on August 15. The movie hype increased with the release of its music, Vikram's look, and trailer.

Thangalaan is a historical period movie and Thangalaan means "the son of Gold," tells the true story of a community's efforts to protect the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) from British forces. The main storyline revolves around a mission to save the gold from the British and is expected to explore themes of ambition, rivalry, and the relentless pursuit of success.

Thangalaan Cast And Crew:

The film Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, stars Chiyaan Vikram, Parvathy, and Malavika Mohanan. The production team includes K E Gnanavelraja, Jyoti Deshpande, and Neha Gnanavelraja. The soundtrack is composed by G.V. Prakash.

Demonte Colony 2:

Demonte Colony 2, the eagerly anticipated sequel to the 2015 horror hit Demonte Colony, is set to premiere in theaters on August 15. This horror movie has its own expectations due to the success of the first part.

Demonte Colony 2 picks up right where the first film left off, with the tragic end of Arulnithi's character. This sequel delves into the aftermath of his character’s demise, revealing that his soul remains trapped in a supernatural realm. As the trailer suggests, Priya Bhavani Shankar's character senses the ghostly presence, setting the stage for a confrontation between Arulnithi’s spirit and an evil force.

Demonte Colony 2 Cast And Crew:

The film is directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, who also helmed the original movie.  Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar play the lead roles in the movies and the supporting cast includes Antti Jaaskelainen, Tsering Dorjee, Arun Pandian, Muthukumar, Meenakshi Govindarajan, Sarjano Khalid, and Archana Ravichandran.

The music and background score for Demonte Colony 2 are composed by Sam CS, while the cinematography is handled by Harish Kannan. The film is produced by Bobby Balachandran, Vijayasubramanian, and RC Rajkumar.

Raghu Thatha:

Raghu Thatha falls under the comedy genre and is set to release on August 15. The movie speaks about the imposition of Hindi and other languages on the people in a light way.

Raghu Thatha follows the bold and rebellious character of Kayalvizhi, portrayed by Keerthy Suresh. In the trailer, Kayalvizhi emerges as a strong-willed young woman who challenges stereotypes and stands up against the imposition of Hindi and other languages in her village. The story revolves around her struggle between sticking to her principles and guiding societal expectations and patriarchy.

Raghu Thatha Cast And Crew:

The Raghu Thatha cast includes Keerthy Suresh as the bold protagonist Kayalvizhi, supported by a talented ensemble including M.S. Bhaskar, Ravindra Vijay, Devadarshini, Jayakumar, Rajeev Ravindranathan, Anandsami, Rajesh Balachandiran, Ismath Banu, Aadhira Pandilakshmi, Janaki Chu, Khoy Sheng, KS. Mippu, Mukesh, Manoj Kumar, and Kalaivanan.

Raghu Thatha is produced by Vijay Kiragandur and features a screenplay and direction by Suman Kumar. The film's music is composed by Sean Roldan.  

Double iSmart:

Double iSmart is an eagerly anticipated 2024 Indian Telugu-language science fiction action thriller set for a worldwide release on August 15, 2024. The film will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi and it is a spiritual sequel to the successful movie iSmart Shankar

Double iSmart explores the groundbreaking concept of brain transplantation. The story revolves around the transplantation of a deceased police officer's memories into a new brain, creating a high-stakes scenario where an assassin is recruited to aid the authorities. 

Double iSmart Cast And Crew:

Double iSmart stars Ram Pothineni, Sanjay Dutt, and Kavya Thapar in prominent roles. The supporting ensemble features Bani J, Ali, Getup Sreenu, Sayaji Shinde, Makrand Deshpande, and Temper Vamsi.

The movie is directed and written by Puri Jagannadh, who also serves as a producer alongside Charmme Kaur under their banner, Puri Connects. The music for the Double iSmart is composed by the acclaimed Manisharma.

Freedom (2024):

Freedom is an upcoming film based on true events and is expected to premiere in theaters on August 14. The movie dramatizes a notable prison break that occurred in Tamil Nadu between 1991 and 1995, focusing on the emotional turmoil of those wrongly convicted of crimes. 

Freedom Cast And Crew:

The film stars Sasikumar and Lijomol, who portray Sri Lankan refugees caught in the aftermath of this tragic event. The cast also includes Mu Ramaswamy, known for his role in KD Engira Karuppudurai, along with Sudev Nair, Malavika Avinash, and Bose Venkat.

The film's music is composed by Ghibran, with cinematography by NS Uthayakumar and editing by Srikanth NB. Co-produced by Sujatha Pandian and produced by Pandian Parasuraman, Freedom is set in Chennai and Kerala.

Vedhaa (2024):

Vedhaa is an action-packed film set to hit theaters on August 15, with releases in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The movie tells a story of courage and resistance, focusing on the revolt against a draconian system. It shows the journey of a young woman who, with the support of a man she trusts, fights to bring justice and challenge oppressive forces.

Vedhaa Cast And Crew:

Vedhaa features a stellar cast led by John Abraham, Sharvari, Abhishek Bannerjee, and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film is directed by Nikkhil Advani, and written by Aseem Arrora with Production by Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment. Vedhaa features music by Amaal Mallik, Manan Bhardwaj, Yuva, and the Raghav–Arjun duo.
