Major Mukund Varadarajan Biography:

Major Mukund Varadarajan was born on April 12, 1983, in Kozhikode, Kerala. He completed his schooling in Chennai and earned his Bachelor of Commerce from Sri Chandrashekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Vidyalaya in Enathur, Tamil Nadu. His wife is Indhu Rebecca Varghese, and his daughter is Ashreya.

Major Mukund Varadarajan was an Indian Army officer who served in the 44th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles. His grandfather and his uncle, who served in the Army, motivated him to gain immense interest in joining the Armed Forces.

He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award, for his courage and sacrifice during a counter-insurgency operation in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014.

Major Mukund Varadarajan led an Anti-terrorist Cordon and Search operation on April 25 2014, near a Village in the Shopian district. The team came under heavy fire from a distant house during the operation. Major Mukund Varadarajan was killed during the encounter with terrorists in this operation.

The Major continuously lost blood and was hit by three bullets in the entire operation. Major Mukund Varadarajan succumbed to his injuries while being evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar.
